Welcome!

Hello all! This is a bit of an experiment and it is very possible that I may scrap this whole thing, but I figured I would give it the old college try first. Instead of writing a long email to everyone every couple of days, I will post here and send out notification of a new post to everyone. This way all my posts can be easily found and read together. Also, I get very sick of typing things more than once, so if I ever send out an interesting email to one person, I can post it here so that all can enjoy. I am hoping to find this a much more convenient way of organizing my posts for everyone involved and will open up email for only one on one conversations.

For those of you who are new or are just pleasant onlookers, here is a brief bit of background to this blog:
My name is Megan and I am taking a year off before going to college. I have chosen to spend the first half of my year with a program traveling through China, studying Chinese, and doing homestays. Incidentally, I won't be leaving the Yunnan Province through the entire trip. I know it might be hard to understand how a person can spend 3 months in China and only see one province, but believe me, I have my hands full. Second semester I am hoping to return to teach English or otherwise live and work in China. I have already gotten through a month of traveling and absolutely love the country, so I find it highly unlikly I will find myself anywhere else second semester.

That said, let the posting begin!
